Shared Beginnings was founded in 2019 by medical professionals driven by helping all people achieve their dream of parenthood. Frustrated by the high costs and inefficiency of traditional donor programs, we set out to provide a better path for every family, regardless of how they're built.
Through a shared donor model and medically-led egg and embryo donation programs, we've made family-building more accessible and successful for single men, male couples, and all intended parents. We're proud to support gay and bisexual men and single fathers by choice on their journey to parenthood.
We provide exceptional medical care, access to high-quality eggs and embryos, personalized treatment plans, and a shared model that keeps costs manageable — serving intended parents from across the country and around the world.

Stephanie Bartlett, WHNP-BC

With over a decade of experience in reproductive health and fertility care, Stephanie Bartlett brings both clinical expertise and heartfelt compassion to her role as Program Director at Shared Beginnings. A board-certified Health Nurse Practitioner, Stephanie earned her BSN from West Virginia University and her MSN in 2013, spending her early career in labor and delivery before dedicating herself to donor-assisted reproduction — including supporting gay men, single fathers by choice, and LGBTQ+ intended parents on their path to parenthood.
As the primary point of contact from first consultation through embryo creation, Stephanie is known for her warmth, clarity, and genuine commitment to making every person feel seen and supported.
Susannah Copland, MD, MSCR
- Fertility Specialist and Co-Founder
With more than two decades of experience in reproductive medicine, Dr. Susannah Copland brings both exceptional clinical expertise and genuine personal investment to every patient she serves. A board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and co-founder of Shared Beginnings, Dr. Copland has dedicated her career to helping individuals and couples — including gay men, single fathers by choice, and LGBTQ+ intended parents — find their path to parenthood.
Trained at Cornell, Mayo Clinic, and Emory University, and formerly the director of fertility preservation and third-party reproduction at Duke University, Dr. Copland brings world-class credentials to deeply personal work. She believes every patient is the captain of their own journey, and she takes the time to ensure each person fully understands their options and feels empowered to make the decisions that are right for them.
